Each skit produced is carefully constructed and rehearsed in order to thoughtfully portray powerful messages related to issues that are crucial to the life and health of young people: substance abuse, bullying, depression, acceptance, grief, and physical and sexual abuse. SOS believes that when these sketches are performed in a high quality manner, both audiences and performers become better educated about these health- and safety-related issues and become inspired to take responsible action when called to confront them.

To ensure our high-quality artistic goals are met, SOS Directors lead the participating actors through a series of community building, improvisation and theatrical foundations exercises at the start of each rehearsal. The Teen and Junior actors are encouraged to push the limits of their creative expression through highly dramatized sketches and acting exercises. The Directors cast each sketch based on balancing the quality of acting with the dedication of each young actor; giving each student a fair chance, while ultimately selecting the right actor for the sketch.
